Land Acknowledgement
Calgary Women Fly Fishers Club would like to acknowledge the original caretakers of the land we are on. Those of us in the Calgary area live and recreate on the land of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina, and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations. The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
We understand that we may not all be joining from the Calgary area. We encourage anyone joining from another location to spend some time reflecting about the territory that you currently are on, and to learn about our shared history.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps have marked this territory for centuries.
